1. The nine roles
| Role | Definition | Named now |
|---|---|---|
| Guest | Not a member — the guest of a member. No ally of their own; guided and supported by Ki, the Genesis Ally that serves all guests and onboards every member (Orchestration §1). | — |
| Member | Joined the organization that registered them — a one-time initial purchase of that duna’s Compute ($100 for Kinship Duna; each duna sets its own). Once a member, always a member. One FROST wallet, one ally, across all dunas. | the team, and everyone who comes through the founding round |
| Founder | One of the first X members of a duna (X set by the duna, always > 100; Kinship Duna: the first 1,000). | the first 1,000 of Kinship Duna |
| Organizer | Appointed to lead, organize, support, and communicate — on social media and everywhere else. Like an ambassador but more formal, and can get paid: primarily through the lineage, sometimes other ways; some Organizers receive free Compute. | appointments begin after launch |
| Creator | Builds context and experiences — wisdom, regimens, writing, design, worlds. Assigned by another Creator. | — |
| Builder | Creates apps, agents, automations, code. Assigned by another Builder. | the dev team, day one |
| Catalyst | Founder of a new organization — the member who spins out a duna. | Matt Simon (Service Alliance) · Dave Thompson & Susan Thompson (The Fellowship of Play) · Crystal Stone & Rob Dobson (Mountain River Trail) · Stacey Toy (Fanduna) · Trevor Fitzgibbon (Agency) · Lester Firstenberger (Contraction · Freehold Finance) · Paul Levine & Dave Didden (BiHome/Inner Clinic) · Marie Uehling (EP Rising) |
| Luminary | A major advisor or figure whose work grounds a duna. | Howard Teich (Cosmic Humanity · Vibe Coast) · Four Arrows (Indigenous Revival) · Renée Smith (Mapshifting) · Mama Ayo (Black Love) · Bill Thatcher (Soul Kitchen) · Darcia Narvaez (Homeworld) |
| Institution | Partners, sponsors, and outside entities with accounts: squad wallet, $1K Compute, up to 10 enrolled members, contracts with anyone, cannot vote. Must be a registered outside entity. | Current: Kiduna Club · Kinship Intelligence Institute · Kinship Systems. Potential partner: Circle. |
2. How roles work
- Per-duna. A member is a Builder in Kinship Duna and a plain member of Fanduna; roles don’t travel automatically. The founder of each duna sets promotion requirements and what each role can do (a Forum can change them —
promote, set promotion requirementsare duna commands). - Three ways in: earned by sequence (Founder), appointed (Organizer; Creator and Builder by peers of the same role; Catalyst by the act of founding; Luminary by invitation), or purchased once (Member; Institution).
- Compensation attaches to roles, not levels. Organizers earn through lineage — commissions on Compute purchases by their Clan (four generations deep), at the duna’s schedule: default 20% / 5% / 3% / 2% by generation, set at founding by the Catalyst, changeable by Forum; USDC purchases pay immediately, fiat purchases show as pending until the funds bridge on-chain, expected monthly (Real Work, Real Money §3). Some Organizers also receive free Compute. Lineage is optional per duna — open door, invite-only, or invite-then-open. Builders and Creators earn through engagements and Forum-approved work; Catalysts earn as founders of their own dunas; Institutions pay in.
- Promotion is a moment. Announced by light — the ground briefly brightens — then quiet. Never fireworks (the gold ceremony marks signed acts only), never a leaderboard. (The designed moment: Levels & Social Objects, with the celebration updated per Surfaces §2.)
- There is no holdings-based recognition, at all. No role, badge, pip, or standing ever derives from a member’s balances. The system knows balances for many purposes — limits, metering, settlement, treasury display to the holder — but they are never surfaced publicly, never shown to other members, and never rendered as recognition.
3. Roles × the team, today
Kinship Duna’s own working roles: Moto — Founder/Catalyst of the genesis duna; Jeya (Sucil), Aashik, Elias, Jose, Shriram (Sri Ram), Muthu Krishnan, Vijay — Builders; the writing/design work — Creator seats open; the Catalysts and Luminaries named in §1 anchor their dunas; Kiduna Club, KII, and Kinship Systems stand as the first Institutions. The launch cohort — every named Catalyst and Luminary — starts within Kiduna Club (Institutions §3): invited, onboarded, and organizing there while their own dunas take the Alliance → Organization path. Their seat is in one duna; their participation is never limited to it. Each role’s daily package is in downloads — one zip per role, made to be dropped into any Claude.
Changes in v5.2: Ki (the Genesis Ally) replaces the generic Host for guests and onboarding. v5.0: the launch cohort named — eight catalyst seats and four more luminary placements, all starting within Kiduna Club; Muthu Krishnan and Vijay join the Builders. v4.6: organizer economics decided — commissions on Clan Compute purchases only, default 20/5/3/2, Catalyst-set and Forum-changeable, lineage optional per duna. v4.3: holdings-based recognition removed entirely. v4.2: track created. Full history: versions.
