Where states apply
Sources — the Ally medallion renders the state fully (pose, gaze, cheek sigil, field): see the Avatars group. Realms — the medallion never changes; state appears as field geometry around it + the small gold-rimmed sigil badge at 4-5 o'clock. ENGAGED when a live session is on; FOCUSED during a work sprint; DREAMING while incubating (Conceptual realms are always DREAMING). Ki — the glyph keeps its cells; only the sigil badge changes. OPEN at rest, ENGAGED in conversation, FOCUSED while executing an Action, DREAMING while generating options. Minimum dwell 30s; transitions crossfade ≤400ms (or none with reduced motion). Never state through the medallion alone — pair with a text status where it matters.
Rules

These four states and their geometry come verbatim from the Ally system — identity is stable, state is fluid applies to every Studio object, not just people. State geometry is drawn on the ground layer in the state's own vocabulary (gold rays, sky orbit lines, gold compass rings, cream crescents) at ≤50% alpha, and it drifts with the object. The sigil badge is a 22px enamel medallion — the only place a state is named; product copy never labels moods. Sky identifies active/relational energy and must not flood a state field; mint appears only in DREAMING and receipts. OPEN is the universal fallback; explicit Source selection outranks automation.
