# MOTION ADDENDUM — DESIGN ROUND 7
**The Field⇄Chat blends and the handoff in-flight states · extends R4/R6 motion law · July 11, 2026**

R6's constants stand: light announces, never pulses for attention; the ally band is the continuity object; 1400ms is the long crossing; nothing bounces.

---

## 1. The posture crossings (02 · 2a, 2d)

All four postures are one surface breathing. Every crossing keeps the ally band mounted and unbroken — it may move, it never blinks.

- **Side-by-side → Field-only** (and reverse): the thread slides out right, 420ms `cubic-bezier(0.3, 0, 0.2, 1)`; the Field widens under it in the same curve. The band re-anchors to the Field's bottom edge in the last 180ms.
- **Side-by-side → Chat-only**: the Field dims 12% and slides left, 420ms; the thread widens. The container chip travels into the thread's header — position morph, not fade — so "where you are" never disappears.
- **→ Overlay**: the thread lifts over the Field as translucent HUD (backdrop 88% ground), 320ms. Returning, it "returns what it borrowed": any card it opened settles back to its Field object with a 240ms settle before the panel departs.
- **The two standing words**: the active word is `--fg`, the inactive `--fg-dim`; the crossing recolors them over the full crossing duration — no underline animation, no sliding pill.
- **Spacebar-hold peek (proposed, OQ-3)**: hold = the other rendering rises to 70% presence in 240ms; release = falls back in 180ms. Nothing commits; no state changes on peek.

## 2. The package's life (04 · 4a–4e)

- **Send**: the composed card contracts to the package object (scale 0.94, 260ms) and travels to the room's edge in one 700ms arc, decelerating. Its gold rim lights on arrival at the edge — light announcing state, not celebrating.
- **In flight — the breath**: rim opacity 0.55 ⇄ 1.0, period **3.2s**, sinusoidal. This is the only standing motion in the room. It does not accelerate as time passes; urgency is a sentence in the band, never a tempo.
- **Status lines**: when the agent reports, the band's text crossfades 200ms. No toast, no slide-in.
- **Silence**: after 10 quiet minutes the breath does not change; the card adds "quiet 10 min" as text on its next render. Facts, not alarms.
- **Return**: the package object brightens once (350ms up, 600ms down — the R4 "arrival" curve), then unfolds into its draft Records: each Record card fans into the room 60ms after the last, 280ms each, landing at rest. No confetti physics; a deal being dealt, not an explosion.
- **Failure return**: identical arrival — a returned package is a returned package. The reason renders as the card's content; nothing shakes, nothing turns red.
- **Acceptance (if gold stands, OQ-2)**: the R3 gold ceremony unchanged — press-and-hold fills the ring (1100ms), embers rise on completion, haptic on devices that have it. The accepted Records' "draft" chips dissolve 400ms after the receipt lands, in reading order.

## 3. The Scene grades (02 · 2c, 05 · 5b–5c)

- **Drawn-live rooms render with the sentence**: objects appear in the order the sentence names them, 180ms each — the room is readably *being said*. Re-saying redraws only what changed.
- **Grade climbing happens in place**: the new dressing crossfades over the old in 900ms with objects pinned — nothing moves during a climb, ever. The provenance chip swaps text at the midpoint.
- **Generated options**: walking between candidate dressings crossfades 500ms; the underlying words-and-pixels layer is always the from/to state, so options never blend into each other.

## 4. Collaboration presence (03 · 3a)

- A member's marker drifts to their new position at walk speed (their walk, not a teleport) — position is honest about time.
- A file handoff renders as the object appearing at the server's edge of the room and staying there until taken; "taking" draws it to the taker in 400ms. No flying attachments.
- The machine-grant trace types nothing: new lines appear whole, 150ms fade. Terminal theater is an IDE habit; this is a record being read.

## 5. The Sentinel's non-motion (03 · 3d)

The pacing nudge has **no motion signature at all** — it arrives as an ordinary band/thread message with ordinary timing. Any distinct animation would be a meter wearing a costume.
