> **Note:** §2 (the promotion beat) is SUPERSEDED — promotions are announced by the door-grammar light (ground +4% for one breath), not the gold stamp/embers ceremony, which is reserved for signed acts only. See Experience §2.

# MOTION ADDENDUM — DESIGN ROUND 4
**Additions to the R2 `MOTION-SPEC.md` and R3 `MOTION-ADDENDUM.md` (both stand in full) · July 8, 2026**

The rule underneath all of it is unchanged: **motion is weather, not reward.** Everything below is interruptible, has a static fallback, and uses the standing timing tokens (`settle 180ms · overlay 250ms · object 350ms · flip 500ms · drift 800–1400ms · hold 1000ms · seal 600ms · voice 120ms · crossing 1400ms`). One new token: **`promote 900ms`** (the promotion beat, §2).

---

## 1. The redrawn crossing (amends R3 §4)

- No hold, no ring. The tap on the portal card starts the crossing immediately; the abort affordance is a quiet pill (*tap anywhere to turn back*) that fades in at +300ms and out at −200ms before commit — it must never be present at the first and last frames, so a completed crossing reads as one unbroken shot.
- Abort rolls back at 2× (700ms) to the exact scroll position of the sentence the portal card sits under. The pill's copy never changes to "cancelling" — there is no cancelling state, only the world sinking back.
- Everything else in R3 §4 stands: 1400ms `easeInOutCubic`, tiles 24→0px with 30ms stagger, characters last, thread never unmounts.

## 2. The promotion beat (new)

The one everyday moment allowed the full gold treatment, because it is earned:

- The promotion card settles like any claim (180ms), **then** the seal: gold stamp (scale 1.06→1.0, 250ms) + up to 12 ember particles + a single heavy haptic — the R2 signature-commit grammar, borrowed exactly once for a moment the member did not sign. Total beat ≤ `promote 900ms`.
- After the beat, the level pip fades in beside the member's name over 400ms and **never animates again**. No shimmer, no pulse, no idle glint — the pip is a fact, not a firework.
- The ladder line (guest · member · **organizer** · …) renders once inside the card, static. It is never a fill bar; nothing about it suggests progress toward the next rung.
- Demotion or level change by proposal renders with zero ceremony: a record line, claim-settle only.
- Static fallback: card + pip appear resolved; no embers.

## 3. Press-and-hold on the web (new)

The cream surface signs with the same gesture, adapted to pointer physics:

- Mouse down / touch down on the gold bar starts the same 1000ms linear radial fill, radiating from the pointer position. Releasing early rolls back at 2×; abandoning costs nothing and prints nothing.
- No keyboard shortcut signs. Accessibility path: holding Space/Enter with the bar focused runs the same 1000ms fill — duration is the meaning and is never shortened.
- On commit: the bar stamps (scale 1.02→1.0, 200ms), the gold seal dot appears by the page title, and the page's only motion ends. Embers on the web are reserved for **join** and **Institution founding** — births — and never appear on routine authorizes.
- The page then states the return in one line ("the receipt is in your thread") and, if opened from the app's cream sheet, the sheet recedes per R3 §6. No success screen, no confetti, no green checkmark page.

## 4. The command receipt reveal (new)

- In a Forum proposal, the receipt's rows settle top-down like Account claims (8px rise + fade, 180ms each, 40ms stagger) the first time the proposal opens — ink drying, one time only. On any later open the receipt is simply present.
- Tapping a command name (the IBM Plex citation) opens the Vigil lens on that command's graph entry — standard lens grammar, no new motion.
- The receipt never animates at decision time. When a proposal passes and executes, each row gains its seal dot as the command settles on-chain (fade 200ms, sequential, server-cued like room strikes) — a countable act of execution, the same grammar as code strikes. Failure of any command shows all dots retracting together (the atomicity, made visible) and the ally says why.
- In sim contexts the seal dots are hollow, per the material rule.

## 5. Guild lightness (new)

- Guild rows and rings render with **zero motion**. No settle, no hover lift, no selection glow beyond the standard checkbox. A guild must feel like handwriting in the margin, not a card in the deck.
- Creating a guild ("call them the Winter Crew") prints one record line, claim-settle only. No birth moment — births are for made things and organizations; a guild is a name.

## 6. The domain tell (new)

- When the ally cites a domain, the accountability check renders as the card assembling: the entity mark fades in (200ms) only **after** the DNS+chain check resolves; until then the row shows the domain in plain text with a quiet caret. Never a spinner, never a shield icon.
- Unverified domains get no motion at all — the dashed card is simply present, at rest. Motion budget spent on strangers would itself be a false signal.
- No red exists on this surface. The unverified state is dimness and dash, not alarm.

## 7. Budget & fallbacks, restated

Everything above fits the R2 envelope (≤1 shader pass + particles, idle <5% GPU mid-Android; the web surface uses no engine at all — pure CSS/DOM). New static fallbacks: promotion renders card + pip resolved; command receipt renders resolved with dots present where settled; web hold-bar shows a pressed state at 50% fill for one frame on commit. Reduced-motion renders every final frame; nothing above carries meaning its final frame doesn't.
